Stevick qualifies for NCAAs in both boards

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Senior diver James Stevick (CMC) of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swim & dive team has earned a trip to the NCAA Division III Championships in both the 1 and 3-meter dives after his performance over the weekend at Regionals.

The NCAA Division III Championships run from March 18-21 in Shenandoah, Texas.

On Feb. 27, the first day of regional competition, Stevick won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 524.15, nearly 100 points better than the next closest competitor in the nine-man event. Freshman Patrick Quarberg (6th – 399.65), freshman Victor Ginelli (7th - 346.10) and senior James Kabellis (9th -325.35) rounded out the field of competitors for CMS in the event.

The following day saw Stevick finish in second place on the 3-meter boards with a score of 507.30, just behind Colorado College's Austin Howlett who won the regional with a score of 513. 15. Quarberg finished two spots behind Stevick for fourth place (433.20) while Kabellis came in 8th (356.50).
