CLAREMONT, Calif. – A total of 14 members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swimming & diving team participated in the final home meet of their careers on Saturday for Senior Day, as CMS defeated Redlands in both the men's and women's competition to remain unbeaten in SCIAC. The Stags took all 13 events en route to a 197-46 win, while the Athenas defeated Redlands 172-69 by winning 11 of 13 events.

Both the Stags and Athenas swept the diving competition as freshman Carli Lessard won the 3-meter (224.20) and 1-meter (206.30) dives for the Athenas and junior James Stevick took the 3-meter (340.05) and 1-meter (294.05) dives for the Stags.

In the pool on the women's side, senior Helen Liu and senior Michele Kee were triple winners on the day as both swam on the 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley relay teams that won. Liu also took the 50-yard freestyle event (24.56) while Kee added a win in the 400-yard individual medley (4:35.83). Freshman Stephanie Doi also swam on both winning relay teams. The 200-yard free relay team of Liu, Kee, Doi and freshman Courtney Chan tied a 10-year old pool record with a time of 1:38.47. Junior Molly Loftus also won multiple events for the Athenas, winning both the 1650-yard freestyle (17:44.66) and 200-yard backstroke (2:14.75).

For the Stags, freshman Matthew Williams and sophomore Alex Poltash each won three events, two of which came on the 200 free and 400 medley relay teams. Williams also added a win in the 200-yard backstroke (1:54.85) while Poltash won the 100-yard freestyle (47.15). Shabb's 400-yard individual medley time of 4:06.76 topped the previous pool record from 2002 by nearly four seconds.

Next up for CMS is its final tune-up before the SCIAC Championships, a meet at Pomona-Pitzer on Feb. 8.
