400-Free Relay, Diver Stevick Secure Stags 10th Place Finish At NCAA Championships

SHENANDOAH, Texas –  After four days of competition, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming & diving team came away with a 10th place finish at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships March 20-23 at Conroe Natatorium.

Behind the performance of the 400-yard freestyle relay team and diver James Stevick, the Stags moved up a spot from the previous day to end in 10th with 117 points over the four-day competition. Kenyon finished in first to win the NCAA Division III Championship, ending a two-year run by Denison. Kenyon has won every team championship but two since 1980.

The final event of the Championships was the 400 free relay and the team of freshman Alex Poltash, senior Devin Bowers, sophomore Patrick Shultz and freshman Joseph Hinton finished in fourth with a finals time of 2:59.60, a CMS and SCIAC record.

In the 3-meter diving finals, Stevick added to his successful week at the Championships and finished in 11th with a score of 486.85 to be selected honorable mention All-America.
