Divers Rip To Victory

Senior Athena Carmen Lundell and sophomore Stag James Stevick swept the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions at the annual Bulldog Diving Invitational on Saturday, November 17 at the University of Redlands.

Lundell took first out of 20 competitors, scoring 240.75 on the 1-meter board.  Lundell placed first of 14 in the 3-meter completion, scoring 250.65.

Stevick was first of 15 on the low board, scoring 299.60 on 1-meter, well above the NCAA-zone qualifying score of 275 for 6 dives.  On 3-meter, Stevick scored 265.70 to outscore 2nd place by 47.75 points.

Three additional Stag divers placed well in the competition. On 1-meter, Drake Escrofani was 5th (188.50), Julian Laguisma was 11th (139.80) and Jay Kabellis was 12th (132.15). On the high-board, Escrofani was 4th (208.85), Laguisma 10th (117.25) and Kabellis 13th (97.20).

CMS will be back in action on December 1 in a SCIAC double dual meet between CMS, Cal Tech and Whittier at Whittier College. Diving will begin at 10:00 a.m. with swimming slated to start at 11:00 a.m.
