CMS Cruises Past La Verne

CMS Cruises Past La Verne

The CMS Stag and Athena swim and dive teams each moved to 4-0 in the SCIAC with substantial wins over the University of La Verne Leopards at the Flores Park Pool in La Verne.  The Stags won all 16 events, while the Athenas took 15 of the 16 contests, en route to 258-81 and 267-66 victories.

"We experimented with some new events today and posted many more personal bests than we typically see in January," said Coach Charlie Griffiths. "The squad showed impressive versatility."

For the second consecutive week, CMS earned one-two finishes in all four relay events.

Individually, CMS had a pair of double-winners on the boards, as junior Carmen Lundell and frosh James Stevick won their respective 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions.  Likewise, a pair of swimmers nabbed two events each.  Sophomore Michele Kee finished first in the 200 yard freestyle and the 200 yard breaststroke for the Athenas.  Senior Stag, Austin Hallett, won the 50 yard freestyle and the 200 yard backstroke.
