Bio

Edwards has completed four seasons as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer coach, and led the program to one of its most impressive seasons in program history in 2018. The Stags finished 15-2-1 overall, capturing the SCIAC regular season title, and led the nation by allowing only four goals in 18 games (an 0.216 goals against average). For his efforts, Edwards and his assistants were named the 2018 SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year. The 15 wins also represented an 11-win improvement from 2017, one of the top turnarounds in the nation.

Prior to CMS, Edwards spent three seasons at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., where he similarly transformed the program from a one-win team in the season prior to his arrival to conference champions in 2014.  He was named Midwest Conference Coach of the Year after the 2014 season when his team was 15-4 overall.

Before coaching at Knox, Edwards spent one season at Amherst College as an assistant coach. During that season, Amherst won the highly-competitive NESCAC championship and reached the Elite 8 of the NCAA Division III Championships, setting a program record with 16 wins. Prior to Amherst, Edwards spent four seasons at Springfield College (Mass.) where he served as the associate head coach from 2007-2011. Edwards also worked as the assistant director of Alumni Relations during his time with Springfield College.

Edwards graduated in 2009 from Springfield College with his master's degree in advanced level coaching. A native of Southampton, England, Edwards coached at the highly-respected youth academy for Southampton F.C., working with future professional players like Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Edwards completed his undergraduate work at the University College, Chichester, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in sports and coaching science in 2005.

Edwards holds the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) B License in coaching, along with the NSCAA Premier Diploma in coaching and several other soccer coaching certifications.
