Jacob Mays Chosen to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for CMS Men's Soccer

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Sophomore goalie Jacob Mays earned a spot on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 8 team in a vote of the district's sports information directors, the organization announced today.

By earning a spot on the Academic All-District team, Mays is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, which will be announced later this month.

Mays has had a spectacular career with the Stags over his first seasons, helping CMS to a combined 28-5-3 record in his first two years, including back-to-back SCIAC regular season titles. His solo shutout in the SCIAC Semifinals yesterday against Occidental was his 18th in his 27 career starts, as he stands with a career goals against average of 0.38. A year ago as a freshman, he led the nation in goals against average with 0.22, and in shutouts with 15.

In the classroom, Mays has gotten off to an equally successful start to his college career, compiling a 4.0 GPA as a biophysics major at Claremont McKenna, while earning SCIAC All-Academic Team honors last year.

CMS will be back in action for the SCIAC Championship game against Redlands on Saturday at 7 p.m. for the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
