Abdi and Skoll wrap up season with All-Region honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior Mehron Abdi (CMC) and junior Jacob Skoll (CMC) earned All-West Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in the 2016 season. Both Abdi and Skoll were named to the Third Team and join nine other SCIAC honorees on the All-Region teams.

Abdi finishes his career with his first All-Region award. His leadership up top took the Stags to an 11-7-1 record with all games played against in-region opponents. CMS got off to a hot 4-0 start with one-goal wins over Pomona-Pitzer, Occidental and Pacific. During the course of the season, the Stags boasted a 7-3 home record, ultimately winning the most games since 2013.  Abdi put in three of his seven goals during the season in wins on Pritzlaff Field.

Skoll also earns his first All-Region nod. Defensively, the Stags allowed just 1.21 goals per game and recorded six shutouts on the season. Late in the season, CMS won two 1-0 games against Cal Lutheran and Whittier to qualify for the SCIAC Tournament. The back line played a huge role in recording those crucial wins.
