Soccer teams recognized by NSCAA for academics

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Both the men's and women's soccer teams for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps were honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for exemplary performance in the classroom in the 2015-16 year.

To qualify for the NSCAA Team Academic Award, a team must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average for the entire academic year. The Athenas posted a GPA of 3.51 and the Stags were just behind with a 3.19. CMS was one of just 223 programs received the honor for both the men's and women's teams, and the only recipient of both from the SCIAC.

Head coaches Keri Sanchez and Matt Edwards agree that, "academic achievement at Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd and Scripps Colleges is one of our principle goals." Edwards adds that he is, "proud of the student-athletes' dedication to their academics."
