Four Stags Earn All-SCIAC Men's Golf Honors, Fedorka and Spencer Named Coaching Staff of Year

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Vikram Chatterjee, Yuefeng (Michael) Ma and Will Parker earned first-team All-SCIAC honors, Kevin Jiang captured a spot on the second team, and head coach Mitchell Fedorka and assistant Alec Spencer were named the SCIAC Men's Golf Coaching Staff of the Year, the conference office announced today.

CMS earned the SCIAC title last week, winning both the three-round SCIAC Championship at Olivas Links (by seven strokes) and the overall seven-round championship, including both two-round tournaments from the regular season (by 17 strokes). 

Chatterjee had a spectacular senior season, earning the National Player of the Month in February after earning individual medalist honors at SCIAC No. 1, and earning SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in a row after a strong performance at the Las Vegas Shootout, where he came in a tie for sixth. He added a strong finish in April, finishing in a tie for third place at the SCIAC Championships, coming in eight-under par over 54 holes. 

Ma came in sixth place at the SCIAC Championships, shooting even par or better in all three rounds and ending at -4. He had a 70 on his final round (-2), which included six birdies. He matched Chatterjee with a -5 at the Las Vegas Shootout, including back-to-back rounds of 69 (-3) on a 36-hole opening day, and was third at SCIAC No. 1.  

Parker also had a top-10 finish at the SCIAC Championships, ending the tournament in eighth place at -3. He was also fifth at SCIAC No. 1 and fourth at SCIAC No. 2, giving him top-10 finishes at all three league events. 

Jiang earned the SCIAC Athlete of the Week award after earning a top-10 finish at the loaded Jekyll Island Invitational, ending up at -4 to tie for seventh in a field of 30 teams and over 150 golfers. He was seventh at SCIAC No. 2, and ninth at SCIAC No. 1. 

CMS will compete at the NCAA Championships in two weeks after earning the SCIAC's automatic bid, which will be held at Keene Trace in Nicholasville, Kentucky. The Stags finished third at nationals last year, its highest finish since winning the national title in 2016.
