Wrenn and Shaw Tabbed as All-Americans

Jonathan Shaw (CMC '18) and Alex Wrenn (CMC '19) of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps have been selected to the 2018 Division III PING All-America Teams as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on June 20.
CMS has another record year in the Directors’ Cup standings

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics is ranked third in the 2017-18 Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, the program’s highest finish ever. This is the second-straight year that CMS has finished in the top-5 in the country.
Final Push Lifts Stags Into Top-Ten at National Championships

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team got better every day at the NCAA Division III National Championships, eventually posting a two-over, 290 in the final round on Friday to jump four spots in the team standings. CMS finished the team standings in ninth place with a four-day score of 32-over. The Stags shot rounds of 305 (+17), 298 (+10), 291 (+3), and 290 (+2) with Alex Wrenn (CMC) leading the charge across the week, tying for 12th-place at three-over par.
Back Nine Blitz Moves Stags Up Leaderboard

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team came on strong in their final nine holes of Thursday’s Third Round at the NCAA National Championships. The Stags shot a three-over, 291 on Thursday to move into 13th place in the Championships. Heading into the final round, CMS is 30-over for the week. As a team, CMS went five-under par on their final nine (holes 1-9 after teeing off the 10th hole). Alex Wrenn (CMC) championed the back-nine charge with a round of three-under, 69. He made six birdies on the day and moved into a tie for ninth place.
Stags Rally Late, Make Cut at National Championships

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team rallied late in the Second Round of the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championships to make the cut by four strokes. The Stags got through 15 holes before the Tournament was delayed by rain for the second-straight day. CMS used the breather to compose themselves before finishing the round in dramatic fashion with four birdies across the team in their final three holes to ensure themselves two more rounds at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C.
No. 9 Stags Slated to Begin the 2018 National Championships

The No. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf begins the four-day National Championships at the Grandover Resort at Greensboro, N.C. on Tuesday. The Stags will be one of 42 teams in action this week in North Carolina, in a field that includes the top 18 teams in the country and a total of 26 programs in the top-50.
Stags Dodge Raindrops, Complete Day One at NCAAs

In a First Round shortened by rain for a large portion of the field, the No. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team opened the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championship with a 17-over, 305. The Stags currently sit in 29th place with 14 of the teams in front of them still on the course after a suspended opening round. Just over half of the field finished all 18 holes in the First Round. The 18 teams still on the course will pick-up where they left off at 8:00 a.m. ET with the Second Round slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. ET in a shotgun format.
Stellar Season Earns Five Stags All-SCIAC Honors

Last week the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their end of season men’s golf awards. Five Stags earned All-SCIAC honors, with four grabbing First Team accolades and one being named Second Team. Head coach Bim Jollymour and assistant Mitch Fedorka received their third-straight SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year honor after guiding the Stags to their third SCIAC Title in as many years.
CMS Claims 10th-Straight SCIAC All-Sports Trophy

For the 10th-straight year and 30th time in program history, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletic Department claimed the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Combined All-Sports Trophy. The Athenas earned 94 points this season and won the All-Sports Trophy on the women’s side by a 19-point margin, claiming their eighth-straight and 23rd overall. The Stags finished third in the standings on the men’s side with 65.5 points. Pomona-Pitzer won the men’s All-Sports Trophy.
Stags Claim Third-Straight SCIAC Championship

The No. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team closed out their third-straight SCIAC Championship on Tuesday with a round of one-under, 287 at Los Serranos Country Club. CMS finished 20 strokes ahead of Cal Lutheran on the week and a total of 33 strokes in front of the La Verne Leopards in the race for the SCIAC Championship. Johnny Brandt (CMC) carded an even-par, 72 on the final day of the Tournament to finish at five-under for the week. Brandt was one shot back of the individual medalist, Jake Hollander (210, -6) from Redlands, who also shot even on Tuesday.
Men's Golf Starts SCIAC Championships Sunday Morning

The No. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team will be in action this weekend at Los Serranos Golf Club in the 2018 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Golf Championships. The Championships take place from Sunday-Tuesday, April 22-24 and will serve as the final three rounds to determine a SCIAC Champion. After the first four rounds of SCIAC play, the Stags hold an eight-stroke advantage over the rest of the field with La Verne currently sitting in second-place.
Brandt Charges on Sunday as Stags Pace Field at SCIAC #2

The No. 11 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team claimed the second leg of SCIAC play with a two-day total of 585 (+9) at the SCIAC #2 at Brookside Golf Club this weekend. After shooting a seven-over, 79 on Saturday, Johnny Brandt (CMC) turned in the best round in the field with a six-under, 66 on Sunday to finish one-shot behind the leader with a two-day total of 145 (+1). In the team standings, the Stags held a two-stroke lead heading into Sunday's play. Despite shooting five shots higher than they did on Saturday, the Stags increased their lead when it was all said and done and won the tournament by eight strokes over second-place La Verne. CMS finished the weekend with 585 (+9) strokes while La Verne ended with a two-day total of 593 (+17).
No. 8 Men's Golf Wraps-Up West Cup in Sixth

The No. 8 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team wrapped-up the West Cup on Tuesday with a team score of 304 (+20) at Sierra La Verne Country Club. The Stags finished the weekend in sixth place with a team-score of 925 (+73) after the three rounds. Playing on an extremely narrow course with severely slopped greens, the Stags scored north of 300 in all three rounds. No. 9 Guilford College won the tournament with a score of 891 (+39), finishing eight-strokes clear of second-place La Verne (899, +47).
Stags Battle Back, Finish in Top-10 at Jekyll Island Invite

The No. 8 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team shot a season-worst 22-over, 310 in the First Round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on Friday. The Stags flipped a switch overnight and played the final two rounds of the tournament at eight-under par. CMS posted back-to-back rounds under-par on both Saturday and Sunday to climb the leaderboard and finish in sixth-place. Across the three days, the Stags shot 878 (+14) to finish two shots ahead of No. 49 Hampden-Sydney and Kenyon College who tied for seventh at 880 (+16).

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team attempted to beat the rain when they took on Harvard University on Tuesday, falling by a narrow 299-303 margin at Red Hill Country Club. Alex Wrenn (CMC) tied Harvard’s Greg Royston for the best round of the day, shooting a one-over, 73.
