Shaw receives invite to prestigious Patriot All-America tournament
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Claremont McKenna College and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps sophomore men's golfer Jonathan Shaw has been invited by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) to participate in the 2015 Patriot All-America golf tournament Dec. 27-31 at The Wigwam Arizona resort, located in the Phoenix area. The prestigious, three-round tournament features 84 players who have earned current year PING All-America honors in NCAA Divisions I, II and III as well as the NAIA and NJCAA Divisions I and II.
Shaw was selected as an honorable mention All-American by PING in June after an extremely successful freshman season, which earned him the invitation.
In addition, invitations were extended to a member of the United States Military, Naval and Air Force Academies, GCAA national award recipients, members of the most recent Palmer Cup Teams, American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) All-Americans and Toyota Junior Golf World Cup participants currently enrolled in their freshman year of college.
Each individual who participates in the tournament will play with an embroidered golf bag, donated by PING that has the name, rank and service of a fallen or severely wounded United States military member on the bag.
Folds of Honor, a charity that provides educational support to spouses and children of America's fallen and wounded soldiers, will identify a fallen warrior from each invited player's home or school to be honored during the event. The golf bags will be presented to the players by the Event Chairman during the opening ceremonies, which are on Sunday, Dec. 27. At the conclusion of the tournament, the golf bags will be auctioned off to benefit the Folds of Honor charity.
The first round of the 54-hole tournament is on Tuesday, Dec. 29 with the second round on Dec. 30 and final round on Dec. 31.

The CMS men's golf team's regular season begins on Feb. 6-7 with the SCIAC No. 1 Tournament at Tukwet Canyon Golf Course in Beaumont, Calif.
