Men’s golf earns fourth-straight NCAA berth

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division III Men's Golf Committee has announced the teams and individuals selected to participate in the 2015 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships and the No. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team is part of the field the NCAA announced on May 4. The Stags' successful season earned them a berth to the NCAA Championships despite No. 1 ranked Redlands getting the automatic qualification from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

CMS is ranked No. 4 in the West Region and will compete with a junior, Kethan Reddy, and four freshmen: Jonathan Shaw, Matt Shuman, Johnny Brandt and Jackson Zepf.

This is the fourth-straight NCAA appearance for the Stags and ninth time overall. The 2015 championships will be held May 12-15 at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC on the East and West courses. A total of 210 participants from over 40 conferences will vie for the team and individual national championships.

Last year at the NCAA Championships, Schreiner won the school's first title beating Oglethorpe in the final round. CMS finished in 20th place after the first two rounds, ultimately missing the cut. CMS' Bradley Shigezawa (CMC '14) won the individual title in 2013 and CMS placed fourth in 2012.

Pairings will be announced Monday, May 11. The tournament can be followed via live scoring (throughout the tournament) and a live video webcast for the final round (May 15).
