Trio of Stag golfers land on All-SCIAC team
PASADENA, Calif. – After leading the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team to the 2014 SCIAC championship, three Stags have been selected to the All-SCIAC golf teams, the conference announced on May 7. CMS this season won the 10th conference championship in program history and first since 1995.
Selected to the All-SCIAC first team for 2014 are sophomores Kethan Reddy and Justin Beck. In three conference tournaments, Reddy finished in the top-10 for all three events with two third place finishes and a tie for sixth place at the SCIAC Championships. Beck had two top-10 finishes and an 11th place finish with his best finish being a second place showing at the SCIAC #2 Tournament.
Joining Reddy and Beck on the All-SCIAC team is senior Jordan Stein who was selected to the second team. Stein also had two top-10 finishes for the Stags in conference play to go along with a 14th place finish at the SCIAC Championships. His best showing came at the first SCIAC tournament of the season where he tied for 7th place.
Despite winning the SCIAC Championships, senior Bradley Shigezawa was left off the All-SCIAC team because he did not participate in enough events this spring because of an injury.
The Stags begin play at the NCAA Division III Championships, May 13. The Championships run from May 13-16 in Greensboro, N.C. at the Grandover Resort.
The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference was established in 1915. The league is currently comprised of nine private colleges and universities in Southern California: California Institute of Technology, California Lutheran University, Chapman University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, University of La Verne, Occidental College, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, University of Redlands, and Whittier College. The conference recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly and annual basis.
