Shigezawa Finishes In First, CMS In Third At SCIAC’s First Tournament

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – After a nearly three week layoff, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team got back in action over the weekend as the team finished in third place at the SCIAC No. 1 golf tournament on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Empire Lakes Golf Course. Originally scheduled as a two-day tournament, the second day was cancelled due to 50-plus mile an hour winds.

The Stags had a combined score of 297 which was plus-9 and were just four shots off the winning score of 293 by La Verne. CMS junior Bradley Shigezawa had the top individual score with a 3-under score of 69. He joined Bobby Holden of Redlands as the only other golfer in the field to be under par. Shigezawa has been the Stags' top finisher in both tournaments so far this spring.

CMS junior Jordan Stein also finished in the top-10 with a plus-3 score of 75 which put him in a tie for ninth place. Redlands and La Verne – the two teams that finished ahead of CMS – had four players each in the top-10.

Junior Aron Larson (76), sophomore Ben Ho (77), junior Patrick Fujieki (77) and freshman Justin Beck (83) rounded out the CMS golfers.
