CMS Men's Basketball Improves to 3-0 with 93-84 Win over George Fox

NEWBURG, Ore. - Rhett Carter scored a career-high 29 points on 13-16 shooting as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team took a 93-84 win over George Fox on Saturday.

CMS continued its impressive opening week, after defeating No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor by 11 and then beating Lewis & Clark by 32 yesterday, as it moves to 3-0. 

Justin Pratt had a big day off the bench with 19 points, while Matt Meredith also had a career-high with 17 points, shooting 6-8 from the floor, while also grabbing 15 rebounds. 

As a team, CMS shot 61.8 percent, the second straight game it has shot over 60 percent and scored over 90, after a 63.6 effort in yesterday's win over Lewis & Clark. 

George Fox got within 75-71 with two foul shots with 6:52 left, but Pratt answered with a jumper, and Brian Kenyon followed with a jumper of his own to get the lead back to eight. Pratt hit two jumpers around a George Fox foul shot to get the lead up to 84-75 with 3:30 on the clock, and CMS was able to hold on the rest of the way. 

The Stags will be back at home on Friday night when they take on Saint Thomas (Texas) at 7 p.m.
