Josh Angle Earns SCIAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week Honor

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Claremont-Mudd-Scripps junior guard Josh Angle earned the SCIAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week award for games through Sunday, Nov. 21, the league office announced today.

Angle started off the year with a flourish, scoring 30 points on 9-13 shooting (5-8 from three) as CMS knocked off host Puget Sound 73-59 on opening day at the Doug McArthur Classic in Tacoma, Washington. Angle doubled his previous career-high of 15 points, which he set as a freshman in 2019-20 against Pomona-Pitzer.

Over the two games, Angle also averaged 7.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists, to go along with his 18.5 points on 50 percent shooting, and was perfect at the foul line (9-9). His 30-point effort against Puget Sound was the first 30-point game for the Stags since All-American Michael Scarlett had 31 against Whitworth in the opening round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Nicolas Segura Dobjanschi and Jeremy Horn each had 28-point games in the last two seasons as the high-water mark since.

CMS will be at home for the first time this season on Friday and Saturday when it hosts the annual David Wells Classic, taking on Linfield and Whitworth at Roberts Pavilion.
