Stags Begin NCAA Tournament Journey in Walla Walla

Men's Basketball Bracket

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released today the bracket for the Division III Men's Basketball Tournament, and the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags were selected to travel to Walla Walla, Wash. for the opening weekend. The Stags will oppose Whitworth University in the First Round in a rematch of the Stags' 2017 First Round match. The Stags won last year's meeting 78-73. Squaring off in the other game in Walla Walla, is the host Whitman College playing Schreiner University. The winners from Friday's games will play in the Second Round on Saturday.

As mentioned, this is the second-straight time the Stags and Pirates will square off in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. Last year the two played at Whitman as well with the Stags earning a five-point, 78-73 victory. Kendrick Morris (CMC) led all scorers in the game with 24 points and Jack Ely (CMC) had one of his biggest games under the bright lights of the NCAA Tournament. Ely scored 17 points while dishing out seven assists and grabbing five rebounds.

The Stags are making their 14th trip to the NCAA this season and their sixth in the last 10 years.
