Scarlett is Athlete of the Year; Morris on Second Team

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. – Juniors Michael Scarlett (CMC) and Kendrick Morris (CMC) are the representatives for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team on the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams. Scarlett earned Athlete of the Year honors while Morris was named to the Second Team.

Scarlett was named the David Wells Player of the Year as he led CMS to a high of a No. 14 national ranking from D3hoops.com as the Stags started conference play 10-0. The junior ranked second in the SCIAC in scoring (19.3) and fourth in both three-point percentage (45.7) and assists per game (2.9) despite shifting to point guard due to a teammate's injury. The difference between his scoring average and his next-closest teammate was over six points, which was the highest of any team in the conference, highlighting his importance to the regular-season and post-season champions.

Morris was named to the Second Team for the first All-Conference nod of his career. He held the second highest shooting percentage in the conference at 63.4 and averaged over 23 points per 40 minutes. Morris was sixth in the SCIAC for offensive boards, aiding to the Stags' +7.5 rebound margin.

CMS won the SCIAC regular season at 13-3 and then tallied its fifth SCIAC postseason tournament title en route to an NCAA berth.
