Two interception game earns Winsberg D3Football.com Team of the Week honors

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Senior linebacker Max Winsberg of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps football team has been selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week for games between Sept. 11-13. Winsberg had a career-high two interceptions to go along with eight tackles in CMS' 36-14 win over Lewis & Clark on Sept. 13.

Both of Winsberg's interceptions led to CMS touchdowns. In the first quarter, Winsberg came up with his first interception and returned it 28 yards to the Lewis & Clark 26-yard line. Two plays later CMS scored. Then in the fourth quarter, Winsberg picked off a pass and returned the ball 14 yards to the Lewis & Clark 40-yard line. CMS then scored three plays later to take a commanding 28-14 lead.

Through two games, Winsberg leads the team with 24 tackles (18 solo and six assisted).

CMS is the lone SCIAC team to have a representative on the Team of the Week in the first two weeks of the season. The last CMS player to be named to the D3 Team of the Week was Matthew Aven in 2013.
