Athenas Win 4th Straight Title

The women's cross country team finished first at the SCIAC Cross Country Championships over the weekend to earn their fourth straight and 18th overall SCIAC title. CMS beat Redlands 50-52 and the teams will be co-Champions due to Redlands' 27-28 win over CMS in the SCIAC Multi-Dual.

First Team All-SCIAC honors were earned by Katie Mouzakis (SR, Alta Loma) in 5th, Evelyn Ross (SO, Iowa City, IA) in 7th and Brittany Nunnink (SO, Charlotte, VT) in 10th. All three earned First Team honors for the first time. Mouzakis was Second Team All-SCIAC her first three years and was the only women this year to earn a third or fourth All-SCIAC award. Ross and Nunnink were both on the Second Team in 2005. Second Team All-SCIAC honors were earned by Laurie Mittermiller (FR, La Jolla) in 12th and Ariane Mohr-Felsen (SO, Laurel, MD) in 16th.

The championship team also included Lindsay Burt (SR, Boise, ID, 23rd), Stephanie Widmer (SR, Concord, 33rd), Rachael Martin (SO, Pasadena, 38th), Cristina Masurat (SO, San Jose, 39th), Kathleen Harris (SO, Bremerton, WA, 46th), Allysa Rueschenberg (FR, San Luis Obispo, 49th), Kana Imuta (SO, Tokyo, Japan, 50th), Margaret Scheuermann (JR, Katonah, NY, 57th), Oksana Sergeeva (SO, San Diego, DNR) and Sheila Bhardwaj (FR, Pittsburgh, PA, DNR). Eighty women competed in the meet.

The team will next compete at the NCAA West Regional on Saturday, November 11. The race will be at 10:00 at Prado Regional Park in Chino. The meet serves as a qualifier for the NCAA Division III Championships.
