Athenas Soccer Alumni Game 2009

Current and former women’s soccer players met on Sunday afternoon, September 27th for the annual alumni game. This year, the game was held on the new Scripps Alumnae Field. Scripps has invested in the health and wellness of their student body by building a brand new, state of the art fitness center and next to the fitness center they included a pristine patch of grass that can host soccer and lacrosse games. The game began with a brief dedication in naming the field and then introductions of the current and past players. Tradition is a big part of our program and it is important for the current team members to see who came before them and to see where those former players are today.

The game itself was fun for all and a great battle. The alumni, with a little added help in numbers toward the end, edged out the current team 4-3. CMS goals were scored by Catherine Raney, Madi Shove- with an assist from Olivia Sylvester, and Brittney Pineros who knocked in her own rebound after a long run down the left side. Alumni goals were scored by Michelle Daley (CMC ’06), Allison Hutchings (HMC ’06) from Heather Marra (CMC ’09), Bryce Raygor (coach’s son) from Ina Labermeier (CMC ’06), and Marra from Sarah Blavet (CMC ’09).
