SCIAC Champion Athenas To Host SCIAC Tournament

The SCIAC Champion women's soccer team will host the first round of the SCIAC tournament on Thursday, November 1.  The top four teams from conference are playing in the tournament with the winner being the automatic qualifier to the NCAA tournament.  In the first game,  CMS (#1 seed, 13-5 overall, 10-2 SCIAC) will play Cal Lutheran (#4, 7-10-3, 6-4-2) at 5:00.  Occidental (#2, 10-5, 9-3) will take on Redlands (#3, 9-5-3, 7-4-1) in the second game at 7:30.  The highest remaining seed will host the tournament final on Saturday.  If CMS wins on Thursday, the championship game will be at 7:00.

2007 will be the second year of the SCIAC Tournament.  CMS was the inaugural tournament champion.  As the third seed, they advanced to the final 15-14 in a penalty kick shootout over Pomona-Pitzer and won the final 2-1 over Redlands.
