Stags Defeat Eight Time Defending Champs

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags had a decisive win over eight-time defending SCIAC champions, University of Redlands Bulldogs. Though the score of the match was only 1-0, the Stags dominated possession throughout the game. The Stags immediately came out with an unmatchable intensity that was lead by junior All-SCIAC midfielder Mike Nguyentat (Carmichael). The first and only goal of the match came in the 43rd minute off an Ian Anderson (JR, San Francisco) corner kick. Mitchell Skotarczyk (JR, Brea) rose above the Bulldogs like Nasa’s Voyager on its first missile launch, and cannoned the ball into the back of the net. This would prove enough for the Stags as Ryan Fahey’s (SR, Bellevue, WA) seven saves earned the shutout victory. This game was the first time the Stag seniors managed a victory over the University of Redlands.

The Stags look to continue their impressive form against the Whittier Poets, on Wednesday September 30th, on Pritzlaff Field at 4 PM.
