Stags Defeat Cross Street Rivals
The CMS Stags won a thriller this Wednesday against their
cross-street rival Pomona-Pitzer. The game was hard fought on both
sides of the ball, but the Stags managed to put in the extra effort
as Eric Bean (SO, Waukee, IA) scored the only goal of the game with
1:43 left to play. David Taylor (FR, Brookline, MA) exemplified his
blazing speed as he took his defender down the line and lofted in a
cross far post to Ian Anderson (JR, San Francisco) who redirected
the ball to Bean’s head. Defensively, the Stags were very
strong posting their first shutout of the season. A standout
defensive effort was put in by Christian Paullin (SO, Palos Verdes)
who put his mark on the game with his brutish tackling. Goalkeeper
Ryan Fahey (SR, Bellevue, WA) kept the score even in the first half
by coming up big with a breakaway save. The Stags fought hard
throughout the game and are on their way to their goal of
reclaiming the Golden Boot.
CMS hopes to move forward with their momentum this Saturday as they
take on defending SCIAC champs, Redlands, at 11 AM on Pritzlaff
field.
