Three Players Earn Academic All-District Honors

D.J. Lillard (SR, Phoenix, AZ [left]), Brock Olson (SR, Lake Oswego, OR [middle]) and Patrick Atwater (SR, La Canada [right]) were voted to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team which was released today. All three players are on the First Team in the College Division of District VIII which automatically qualifies them for the Academic All-American ballot [voting begins next week]. Lillard and Olson were also Academic All-District in 2008. Lillard was one of two running backs, Atwater one of three linebackers and Olson one of four defensive backs on the All-District team.
Lillard is an Biology/Economics dual major at Claremont McKenna
College and was named Second Team All-SCIAC in 2007. He is the
team's leading rusher with 654 yards and four touchdowns. Olson is
an Government/Psychology dual major at Claremont McKenna and was
named First Team All-SCIAC in 2008. He shares the team lead in
interceptions with two and is CMS' second leading tackler.
Atwater is a Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE)/Math dual
major at Claremont McKenna. He is the team's third leading
tackler.
All three players easily qualifed for the award. Nominees must
have better than a 3.30 cumulative GPA and must be at least a
sophomore. The award is voted on by the College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA) and is presented by ESPN The
Magazine.
