CMS Baseball Earns ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team earned the American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2018-19 season, the organization announced this week.

The Stags earned the honor after compiling a team grade point average above a 3.0 for the 2018-19 academic year, and were one of 82 Division III baseball programs honored across the country.

Earlier this summer, 12 members of the Stags were bestowed with SCIAC All-Academic honors for carrying at least a 3.4 GPA, including seniors CJ Novogradac, Nick DeGallier and Andre Simoneau. Novogradac was a 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America selection, while junior Zach Clarke also earned SCIAC All-Academic honors, in addition to earning first-team All-SCIAC and third-team All-West Region.

CMS finished the 2019 campaign at 19-14-1 overall and 12-12 in SCIAC, just missing out on the conference tournament in the season's final weekend. The Stags won their most games since 2011 (23), and they have continued to improve in the win column for each of the last five years.
