It has been another outstanding year for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics. On the largest scale, CMS broke into the top-10 in the Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup. During the 2015-16 year, many of the CMS student athletes were honored for their athletic and academic achievements.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps was represented by 201 student-athletes on the 2015-16 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-Academic Team. The SCIAC recognizes student-athletes who have achieved at least a cumulative 3.4 grade point average and completed one full year at their institution.

CMS won 11 SCIAC championships, had 13 teams participate in the NCAA Championships, finished tied for 10th in the Directors' Cup Standings and tallied four national championships (3 individual and 1 team). Take a look back at the 2015-16 year in this highlight video.

Sophomore Trey Smith (CMC) earned baseball all-conference honors from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) as announced on May 11. The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team finished in eighth place with a 9-19 record in conference, significantly better than the 5-23 showing in 2015.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team went out with a win – 7-6 over Redlands – in the last game of the 2016 season. It was the multi-hit games for freshman Ryan Motter (CMC), senior MacKenzie Menthen (CMC) and sophomore Nolan Anderson (CMC) plus a big homer by sophomore Chase Eller (CMC) that lifted CMS past the No. 4 seeded Bulldogs. The Stags finished the year at 11-26, 9-19 in SCIAC.

Baughman & Anderson take Stags past No. 12 Oxy

For the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team’s eighth SCIAC win, the Stags beat No. 12 Occidental 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Arce Field in the first SCIAC Round Robin game. Junior Sam Baughman (CMC) pitched five scoreless innings and ultimately only allowed two runs for his fifth win on the season.
