Dominant Performances By Kesselman, Witte Lead To Win

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Andor Kesselman and Scott Witte helped the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team get back in the win column with a 10-0 victory versus the California Institute of Technology Friday at Arce Field.

CMS started the scoring in the bottom of the fourth when, after a Jack Witte walk, S. Witte blasted his sixth home run of the season giving the Stags a 2-0 lead. This would be all the run support Kesselman would need as the junior right hander would scatter two hits over eight innings while striking out nine. This was his fourth complete game of the season.

Holding a 6-0 lead the Stags would finish the game in the eighth.  A William Knowles single would score Dustin Green from third. Later in the inning, with runners on second and third after a double steal S. Witte would come through again with a two-run double to left center. He would then score the winning run when Brett Watanabe singled to left.

S. Witte had a team high four RBI while Ray Hurwitz collected two of the Stags' eight hits.

CMS will complete the three-game series against Caltech tomorrow with a doubleheader at North Field in Pasadena starting at 11 AM.
