Maya Love - Women's Basketball

Last week the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team won a pair of closely contested SCIAC games to improve to 3-0 in the conference. Maya Love was in the thick of both of those victories, averaging 13.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game this week. On Wednesday, Love helped the Athenas come from behind in the final minute to defeat Redlands 58-55. Then in the Sixth Street rivalry, Love collected an impressive double-double to help CMS push past Pomona-Pitzer 60-52.

Love started the week with a nine-point, nine-rebound performance in the victory over Redlands. With 20 seconds left in the game, CMS trailed 55-53, but Love scored three points in the final seconds to help the Athenas comeback and take a win away from the Bulldogs.

On Saturday, Love put together her fourth double-double of the season by scoring 18 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in another comeback victory for CMS. Love nearly collected a double-double in the fourth quarter alone. The sophomore guard showed up big when the Athenas needed her most, collecting nine points and eight rebounds in the final 10 minutes.

On the season, Love continues to average a double-double with 12.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. The Athenas are back in action on Sunday when they host Pacific at 2:00 p.m. in Roberts Pavilion.
