Catherine Allen - Women's Tennis

After taking first place at the ITA West Regional this past weekend, Catherine Allen (SC) is named CMS Athlete of the Week. The sophomore outlasted the field of 64, winning five consecutive matches to secure her spot in the 2017 Oracle Cup in Rome, Georgia on October 11-14. 

Entering the tournament as a No. 2 seed, Allen controlled her first two matches, defeating Alexandra Ferry of Pomona-Pitzer with a pair of 6-1 sets. She followed up with two 6-0 sweeps against Samantha Siegel of Occidental before defeating teammate Rebecca Berger 6-3 and 6-1. 

Allen was tested in the semifinal, facing teammate Lindsay Brown and battling to a three-set victory (7-5, 4-6, 6-3). She went on to face another fellow Athena, Nicole Tan, in the final and cruised to a pair of 6-2 set victories to take the title.
