Anna Gurr - Softball

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team is headed to the NCAA Tournament and senior southpaw Anna Gurr (CMC) has been the key to the Athenas’ success all season. At the 2018 SCIAC Tournament, Gurr led CMS to their fifth SCIAC Tournament Title and was named the tournament’s MVP after tossing all 21 innings without allowing an earned run.

In Game One against La Verne, Gurr struck out four, walked one and scattered five hits. She only got better as the tournament went on, striking out four in Game Two against Pomona-Pitzer and not walking a batter while giving up three hits. She needed only 54 pitches, 45 for strikes, to get through seven innings for the win. In the Championship game against the Leopards, Gurr again allowed just three hits and struck out one in her 30th career shutout.

The Athenas will travel to Linfield College to begin their postseason journey and will open up against George Fox on Friday at 4 p.m.
