Emily Bassett - Women's Track and Field

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Emily Bassett (CMC) etched her name in CMS, SCIAC, and NCAA Division III history on Friday at the Long Beach State Invitational. The senior not only shattered both the CMS and SCIAC record, but recorded the third farthest hammer throw in NCAA Division III history with a mark of 62.04m, besting her previous school record of 58.94m set earlier this season.

In her attempts, Bassett had three throws over 59m and two that broke the SCIAC conference record. She placed ninth in a strong field of Division I athletes.

This week, the No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s track and field team heads to Redlands for the the SCIAC Championships on Friday and Saturday.
