Chloe Amarilla - Softball
The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team began their season with a win over Lewis & Clark College on Feb. 9 before splitting a doubleheader with defending SCIAC Champions, La Verne, on Feb. 10. Chloe Amarilla (CMC) contributed at the plate and in the circle over the weekend, leading the Athenas in hits while tossing a gem in Game Two on Saturday.
Amarilla was one of three Athenas to record a hit on Friday and came around to score one of the two CMS runs. The Athenas hung on to win 2-0.
In Game One of the twin bill with the Leopards on Saturday, Amarilla went 3-3 at the plate and scored a run. Amarilla played a big role in the Game Two victory. The junior went 2-4 at the plate and went the distance in the circle. She held La Verne to just two hits in a complete game shut out while striking out four.
She currently leads the SCIAC in batting average (.600) and ERA (0.00) on the young season.
CMS softball takes the field again on Friday, Feb. 16 when the take on Linfield at 2 p.m. at home.
