Michael Scarlett and Kris Brackmann - Basketball

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Junior Michael Scarlett (CMC) and senior Kris Brackmann (CMC) were named CMS Co-Athlete of the Week after playing pivotal roles in helping their respective basketball programs win the SCIAC Tournament Title.

Scarlett did an excellent job facilitating the offense and hitting timely shots against Pomona-Pitzer on Friday night, finishing with 11 points and five assists to help CMS come back from an 18-point deficit to win 70-64. The junior guard followed up with a huge offensive performance against Cal Lutheran, scoring a team-high 26 points and dishing out four assists in a 77-71 victory. Scarlett is averaging 17.7 points per game this season and is shooting 47.5 percent from beyond the arc.

Brackmann showed her versatility on the offensive end during the SCIAC Tournament, scoring from beyond the arc and inside the post. The senior forward posted 19 points, seven rebounds, and two steals against Redlands to help the Athenas win 62-54 on Thursday night. She followed up with 16 points and six boards to help CMS to a 65-54 victory against Chapman in the SCIAC Final. Brackmann is averaging 11.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest this season.
