Anna Gurr - Softball

CLAREMONT, Calif. – After playing a key role in the Athenas’ two victories over Redlands this past Saturday, junior Anna Gurr (CMC) is named CMS Athlete of the Week. The Fastpitch News preseason All-American has been living up to her billing, throwing a complete game victory over the Bulldogs in the first half of the double header. In seven innings of work, Gurr gave up only two runs and struck out six batters in that outing.

In the second game against Redlands, Gurr came in the middle of the fifth inning to pitch in relief. With the Athenas leading narrowly 2-1, Gurr held it down by throwing two and a third innings of scoreless relief, striking out two for the save.

Gurr has been the most dominant pitcher in the SCIAC this season, leading the conference in seven different categories. In conference play, Gurr boasts the lowest ERA (0.75), strikeouts (56), innings pitched (75.0), shutouts (3), and wins (8). She has also held opposing batters to a .161 batting average and collected four saves as well. Her overall ERA of 0.89 is ranked No. 18 in Division III this season.
