Laynee Laube – Women’s Soccer

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Coming off a torrid run through the SCIAC Tournament last week, senior Laynee Laube (CMC) is named Athlete of the Week for her contributions after scoring three goals and one assist for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s soccer team. Laube was in top form at the perfect time, as the team needed to win the SCIAC Tournament to secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

In the Athenas’ semifinal match against Cal Lutheran, Laube willed the team to victory in overtime with a well-struck goal from the left edge of the box. In the final match against Chapman, the senior wasted no time to give CMS the early lead, finding junior Wren Osler (SC) on a corner kick for a header to get the assist. She then followed up with a laser after a brilliant solo run from the right wing to double the Athenas’ lead. Later, Laube received a through pass, broke past two defenders, and scored in a one-on-one opportunity against the keeper to make it 3-0.

Laube is the first Athena since Laura Hagen in 2009 to score in double digits in a season, finding the net 11 times this season.
