Nicole Kerkhof - Volleyball

(9/14 – 9/20) – In four matches at the Emory Invite on Sept. 18-19, CMS went 3-1 including a win over No. 1 Emory. Outside hitter Nicole Kerkhof (CMC) led the team with 58 kills and she also added 61 digs. She had a double-double (kills/digs) in every match which put her on the All-Tournament team. Her best statistical match came in a 3-2 loss to No. 6 Washington University (Mo.). She had 21 kills and 19 digs with a .321 attacking percentage. Against Emory, the Claremont McKenna College junior came away with 10 kills and 16 digs. It is the first time the Athenas have defeated a team ranked No. 1 since knocking off No. 1 Juniata on Oct. 11, 2008 at a tournament hosted by La Verne. Juniata finished that season ranked No. 3 in the AVCA poll. CMS is now 11-2 on the season. Kerkhof leads the Athenas and is second in the conference in kills. She is fourth in conference in digs and second on the team.

Kerkhof was also selected as the SCIAC Female Athlete of the week.
