Alex Waggoner – Men’s Water Polo
(11/16 – 11/22) – With a 12-11 overtime victory over Whittier in the finals of the SCIAC Championships on Nov. 22, the CMS men’s water polo team won the program’s 26th conference championship. The win also secured the Stags a spot in the National Collegiate Men's Water Polo Championship play-in game against USC. This is the first time that the Stags have participated in the National Collegiate Men's Water Polo Championship. The match is at USC’s Uytengsu Aquatics Center on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.
En route to the conference championship, the Stags defeated Occidental (19-10), Chapman (11-6) and Whittier. Junior attacker Alex Waggoner (CMC) made a huge splash for the Stags during the Championships with a team-high 11 scores. He scored four times against Oxy, five times against Chapman and twice against Whittier.
Waggoner was also named the SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week on Nov. 24.
