Katie Kuosman – Women’s Tennis
(5/4 – 5/10) – The sophomore from Superior, Colo. stepped up big during the week in helping the Athenas to a pair of wins in the opening rounds of the NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championships. In a 5-0, second round win over Trinity (Tex.) on May 9, Kuosman paired with Caroline Ward for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. The following day in a 5-0 third round win over Pomona-Pitzer, Kuosman and Ward again paired up for a victory in No. 1 doubles, this time a much closer affair which the duo won in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-5). Later in the match, Kuosman clinched the overall team victory with a straight-set, 6-3, 6-4 win in No. 2 singles. With the wins over the weekend, CMS has now advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Championships against Carnegie Mellon on Monday, May 18 in Mason, Ohio.
Kuosman was also recognized as the SCIAC's Female Athlete of the Week on May 12.
