MacKenzie Menthen – Baseball

(3/16 – 3/22) – The Claremont McKenna College junior had a big week offensively for the Stags, who went 1-2 during the week. Over the three games, Menthen went 8-for-13 at the plate with eight RBI, four doubles, three runs scored and a home run.

In CMS’ 11-10 comeback win over Rutgers-Newark in the second game on March 21, he went 4-for-5 at the dish with six RBI, a double, a home run and two runs scored. Down 10-7 with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning, Menthen cleared the bases with a three-run double which tied it. He then scored the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly. He also started the game on the mound and pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed four earned runs with three strikeouts. The win was CMS’ second of the season.

In each of the three games during the series, he had at least two hits with at least one double in each game. He had two doubles in the second game of the series.
