CLAREMONT, Calif. – Each year members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) organize an event that benefits a community service organization. In the Inaugural CMS Memorial Stadium Run held on Sept. 21 which was organized by the CMS SAAC, 85 student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers and community members raised over $2,000 for the Wounder Warrior Project by putting on a Crossfit-type team fitness competition at Fritz B. Burns Stadium and the Burns Track Complex.

The competition consisted of 17 teams, each team with five individuals per team. Each team completed 110 stadium runs, 110 push-ups, 110 squats, and 110M walking lunges. The number 110 is significant because it indicates the number of floors of the World Trade Center. The Wounded Warrior Project was founded in 2003 by a group of veterans and friends who took action to help the injured service men and women who incurred a physical or mental injury, illnesses, or wound post September 11, 2001.

Participants in the event on Sept. 21 included members from the CMS softball, women's lacrosse, women's golf and women's basketball teams along with athletic training students from CMS and the University of La Verne, CMS coaches, members of the ROTC, and Crossfit Kinnick members.
