I don’t even really remember running onto the court. Suddenly, I was just there. Confetti was raining down on us as the whole team piled on top of one another in a heap of excitement and disbelief. Safe to say, winning the National Championship was one best moments of my life. I felt so lucky. How did I get from the PE volleyball class to the National Championship?

Stags Hold Off Panthers, Top Chapman on the Road

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team trailed by as many as 12 points in the opening half, but battled back to take a lead at the break and eventually held off the Chapman Panthers on the road 70-63. Scott Lynds (CMC) and Michael Scarlett (CMC) led the Stags on the afternoon, pouring in 41 combined points with Scarlett dropping 21 and Lynds accounting for 20.

Athenas Take Care of Regals in SCIAC Clash

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The No. 17 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's swimming and diving team handled the Cal Lutheran Regals 178-65 on Saturday morning for their second-straight dual victory. Emma Stacy (SC) claimed victories in the 200 IM and 100 Free to highlight the effort for the Athenas on the day. Mia Syme (CMC) also turned in a personal best, 10:37.20, in the 1000 Free to improve her already ninth-best time in CMS women’s swimming history. Syme finished over 30 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher and was a full lap in front of the field when she finished.

Strong Performances Allow Stags to Top Kingsmen

The Stags topped the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen on Saturday morning by a score of 159-72 for their second victory this week. Aaron Lutzker (HMC) won both the 200 IM and 100 Breast while Kendall Hollimon (CMC) was dominate in both diving events for the No. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s swimming and diving team. The Stags won a total of nine events on the day and shared first in the 500 Free when Ben Culberson (CMC) and Cal Lutheran’s Jonah Hobbs both touched in 4:49.40.

McKillop Shows Well Against Top Competition in 3K at UW Preview

Running against Division I and post-collegiate athletes, Bryn McKillop (SC) placed 28th in the 3K at the University of Washington Indoor Preview Meet on Saturday. Her time of 10:07.09 topped 31 of the top runners in the northwest. McKillop’s time is the eighth fastest 3K time in NCAA Division III this season.

D'Anieri Wins 5K at Tufts Indoor Invite

Running in his home state of Massachusetts, Thomas D’Anieri (CMC) turned in the sixth best time in NCAA Division III in the 5K on Saturday at the Tufts Invite at Tufts University. D’Anieri finished with a time of 14:57.03 to win the race by over a minute in front of a field of five runners from the US Coast Guard.

ORANGE, Calif. - In a battle between the only two remaining undefeated teams in the SCIAC, the Chapman Panthers used a strong second-half to top the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team 68-56 on Saturday evening. The loss is the first for the Athenas since Nov. 29 and snaps a nine-game winning streak. After a slow opening quarter, the Athenas took a 27-22 lead heading into the half, but Chapman outscored CMS 46-29 after the break to halt the Athenas’ win streak just shy of double-digits.

Conati and Limm lead Stags in Runaway Victory over Whitman

Marco Conati (HMC) and Henry Limm (HMC) had their hand in seven of the Stags’ 14 event wins on Wednesday afternoon as CMS routed the Whitman Blues 216-46 in Axelrood Pool. Conati went four for four on Wednesday, winning the 100 Back and 100 Free as well as swimming on the winning 200 Medley and 200 Free Relay teams. Limm took home three events of his own, winning the 1000 Free, 200 Fly, and 500 Free in the victory for CMS.

Rosenberger Wins a Pair in Rout of Blues on Wednesday

Senior Lauren Rosenberger (CMC) won the 200 Fly and 400 IM as the No. 17 Athenas defeated the Whitman Blues 200-61 on Wednesday afternoon. Despite the Athenas winning all 14 women's events in the meet, Rosenberger was the only swimmer to win multiple individual events on the afternoon. The other 10 individual events were won by 10 different Athenas, showing the balance of their roster.
