Loncki Wins Individual Honors, Athenas Take Second-Straight SCIAC Title

The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team had all but clinched their second-straight SCIAC Championship before Tuesday’s final round even started, holding an 84 stroke lead over second-place Pomona-Pitzer in the chase for the Conference Title. CMS slammed the door on the conference with a team score of 19-over, 307 on Tuesday at Los Serranos Country Club to clinch their second-straight and fifth overall SCIAC Title in program history. Margaret Loncki (CMC) led the Athenas by winning medalist honors in the Tournament. With a three-day total of 220 (+4), Loncki claimed the honors by three strokes over Redlands' Caroline Ordian (223, +7).
Stags Claim Third-Straight SCIAC Championship

The No. 9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team closed out their third-straight SCIAC Championship on Tuesday with a round of one-under, 287 at Los Serranos Country Club. CMS finished 20 strokes ahead of Cal Lutheran on the week and a total of 33 strokes in front of the La Verne Leopards in the race for the SCIAC Championship. Johnny Brandt (CMC) carded an even-par, 72 on the final day of the Tournament to finish at five-under for the week. Brandt was one shot back of the individual medalist, Jake Hollander (210, -6) from Redlands, who also shot even on Tuesday.
Women's Lacrosse Gets Tricky in Regular Season Finale

The No. 22 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas wrapped up the regular season on Saturday with a 21-2 victory over the Chapman Panthers on the road. CMS spread the scoring around with five different players recording hat tricks on the afternoon and a total of 10 Athenas scoring goals in the game. Corie Hack (CMC), Evan Murphy (CMC), Hannah Graves (CMC), Sally Carlson (CMC), and Sally Abel (CMC) each tallied three goals while Hack and Murphy both added multiple assists.
Stags Claim SCIAC Regular Season After Pair of Saturday Wins

The No. 5 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team wrapped up their regular season dual slate on Saturday with a pair of victories. In the morning, the Stags went on the road and defeated the No. 34 Caltech Beavers by an 8-1 final before handling NCAA Division II UC San Diego 6-3 at home in the afternoon. The victory over Caltech runs their SCIAC record to a perfect 7-0, and the Stags are guaranteed home court advantage in the SCIAC tournament which begins on Friday, May 4.
Kiessling Nets Seven as Athenas Edge Regals

With the third seed in the SCIAC Tournament already solidified the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team wrapped up the regular season with a trip to Cal Lutheran on Saturday morning. The Athenas earned a hard-fought 11-10 victory against the Regals, thanks in large part to seven goals from senior Roxy Kiessling (CMC). After being held scoreless in the first period, Kiessling scored three goals in the second period and netted a pair of goals in both the third and fourth to finish the day with seven goals on nine shots.
Athenas Sweep La Verne in Crucial SCIAC Doubleheader

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team swept the University of La Verne, the SCIAC leaders coming into the day, in a pivotal SCIAC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Athenas took Game One 4-0 with the help of a four-run fifth inning, before charging late in Game Two to break a 3-3 tie and earn an 8-6 victory.
Smith's Homer Lifts Stags to Doubleheader Split

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 6-4 victory in Game Two of a doubleheader at Whittier on Saturday afternoon. With the game tied 4-4 in the top of the ninth, Trey Smith (CMC) launched a two-run homer that proved to be the difference in the final game of the series. CMS dropped Game One on Saturday morning by a 9-2 final.
Bassett Rewrites the Record Books in Hammer Throw

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s track and field team competed all over Southern California this weekend with athletes at the Mt. SAC Relays, Azusa Pacific’s Bryan Clay Invitational, and at the Long Beach State Invitational. An Impressive showing from Bryn McKillop (SC) got the weekend off to a solid start for the Athenas. McKillop moved up to second all-time in the CMS record books with a time if 16:45.75 in the 5000 meter run. Emily Bassett (CMC) etched her name in CMS, SCIAC, and NCAA Division III history on Friday at the Long Beach State Invitational. The senior not only shattered both the CMS and SCIAC record, but recorded the third farthest hammer throw in NCAA Division III history with a mark of 62.04m.
Women's Tennis Sails Past No. 15 Washington and Lee

The No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a 9-0 sweep of the No. 15 Washington and Lee Generals. The victory gives the Athenas a 22-2 overall record heading into the SCIAC Tournament. After cruising through doubles, the Athenas handled the Generals in singles as well, earning five victories in straight sets. Lindsay Brown (CMC) Caroline Cox (CMC), and Anastasia Bryan-Ajania (SC) led the dominate effort with identical 6-1, 6-1 win at #2, #4, and #5 singles matches, respectively.
McDonald Highlights Stags' Performances on Friday

The men of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps track and field team saw action at two competitive meets with athletes at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific, and at the Long Beach State Invitational. The Stags faced off against tough Division I and II competition and held their own with three athletes setting new personal records.
Whittier Pulls Away Late Against Stags in Weekend Series Opener

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team trailed 6-0 heading into the home half of the sixth inning, but fought back by scoring four runs with the help of a big fly from Patrick Gavin (CMC). The freshman's sixth home run of the season brought the Stags within two at 6-4, but a five-run ninth inning allowed the Poets to run away with an 11-4 victory. CMS shared the offense on Friday with seven different Stags notching hits in the contest, including a double from Brandon Mitchell (CMC) and Gavin's homer in the sixth. Gavin and Kevin Nakahara (HMC) each knocked in a pair of runs.

Athenas Throttle Poets, Claim 20-4 Victory

The Athenas scored early and often en route to a 20-4 victory over the Whittier Poets on Wednesday night on Zinda Field. The convincing win for the No. 22 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team locked up sole possession of their fourth SCIAC Championship in program history. CMS scored 15 goals in the opening half including 10 goals in the first 9:32 of the game to start the running clock for the remainder of the contest. A total of 13 different players scored in the game for the Athenas.
