Across the country, athletic departments will be celebrating their student-athletes and the impact of college athletics with Division III Week from Apr. 2-8, 2018. The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps athletics department will highlight the impact of athletics on our campus community and the student-athletes that make-up our department through a variety of special events.
8-1 Triumph Over No. 3 Middlebury Launches CMS Back into the Top 5

No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis earned a hard fought 8-1 win over No. 3 Middlebury in a rematch of the 2017 NCAA team semifinal. CMS needed to come back from a 6-2 deficit and two service breaks at No. 3 doubles in order to take a 2-1 lead into singles. The Stags showed their toughness in singles by winning two three-setters, three of four tie-breaks, and saving two match points en route to a sweep of all six positions.
Hull Twirls Complete Game in Doubleheader Split with Redlands

Justin Hull (CMC) tossed a complete game, six-hitter in Game Two of a doubleheader on Saturday against the No. 15 Redlands Bulldogs. The effort from Hull helped the Stags to a 5-3 victory in the contest allowing the Stags to salvage a game from the three-game series. The Bulldogs defeated the Stags 7-3 in the first game of the doubleheader, before Hull shouldered the load in the night-cap. Carson Bridges (CMC) led the way for the Stags' offense with three hits on the day.
Bassett Sets CMS Record, Athenas Impress in Whittier

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s track and field team had another impressive showing this weekend at the SCIAC Multi Dual hosted by Whittier College. The Athenas cruised to two victories, outscoring Cal Lutheran 116.5-45.5 and Whittier 99.0-62.0. Emily Bassett (CMC) set a new CMS record in the hammer throw with a mark of 58.90m and Nirel JonesMitchell (CMC) climbed the list in both the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash.
Stags Post Strong Marks at SCIAC Multi Dual

WHITTIER, Calif. – The men of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps track and field came away with two wins on Saturday, defeating Whittier College 96.5-65.5 and Cal Lutheran 113.0-36.0 at the SCIAC Multi Dual meet in hosted by Whittier College.
Women's Water Polo Pastes Caltech in 17-3 Victory

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team cruised to a 17-3 victory over the Caltech Beavers on Saturday morning. Nine different Athenas scored in the victory with Jessica Gaffney (CMC), Anna Fry (HMC), and Chandlyr Denaro (CMC) leading the offense for CMS by each scoring at least three goals. The Athenas outshot the Beavers 28-16 in the victory.
Softball Swept by Regals in SCIAC Doubleheader

The Athenas dropped both games of Saturday’s twin bill with the visiting Regals of Cal Lutheran. Despite a nine-strikeout performance from Anna Gurr (CMC), CMS was unable to answer Cal Lutheran’s two-run sixth inning in Game One and fell 2-1. Game Two was much of the same. The Athenas scored first early, but could not answer two Regal runs, falling 2-1.
Women's Tennis Defeats Middlebury in Top-Five Showdown

The No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team defeated another nationally ranked opponent on Friday when they topped the No. 5 Middlebury Panthers by a 7-2 final. The Athenas built a commanding 3-0 lead after doubles play thanks in large part to a huge comeback by Caroline Cox (CMC) and Catherine Allen (SC) at the #2 doubles match. Cox and Allen trailed 7-2 in the doubles match, but rattled of five-straight games to force a tiebreaker. They then claimed the tiebreaker by a score of 7-2 and claimed the match 8-7.
Stags Bounce Back with Wins Over UC Santa Cruz and Chapman

After a tough loss to Williams earlier in the week, the No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team rebounded for a pair of victories on Friday at Biszantz Family Tennis Center. CMS out-dueled No. 34 UC Santa Cruz 6-3 in a morning match, before earning a 9-0 victory over Chapman in the afternoon session.
Gurr Leads Athenas to Win in Split Against Redlands

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team split with Redlands on Friday, taking Game One 2-0 before dropping the second half of the twin bill by a final of 8-4. Anna Gurr (CMC) tossed a gem to shut out the Bulldogs in the first game of the day but Redlands bit back in Game Two, scoring six runs in the first two innings.
No. 15 Bulldogs Open Series With Win Over Stags

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team was held to four hits in a 7-3 loss against the No. 15 Redlands Bulldogs on Friday afternoon. The Stags took an early lead with a pair of unearned runs in the top of the first, but the Bulldogs answered with seven runs in the middle innings of the game to take a 7-2 lead. The Stags scored one run in the seventh on a wild pitch, but it was not enough and the Bulldogs held on for the 7-3 victory.
Athenas Pepper Goalie, Earn Victory Over Bruins

The No. 21 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team handled the visiting George Fox Bruins on Zinda Field to the tune of a 19-6 victory. CMS was relentless in their pressure of the Bruins and took a total of 43 shots in the contest against just nine for George Fox. Hannah Graves (CMC) led the offensive effort for CMS with four goals on five shots in the contests. Five other Athenas collected multiple goals in the game with Allie Hill (CMC) and Evan Murphy (CMC) each striking for three each.
Gaffney's Five Goals Leads CMS to Victory

The Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' women's water polo earned their sixth SCIAC win of the season with an 11-7 victory over the Whittier Poets on Wednesday night. After falling in an early hole, CMS came from behind in the second quarter and were able to maintain the lead for the rest of the game. Jessica Gaffney (CMC) led the charge with five goals in the game.
CMS Health and Wellness Fair Hits Roberts Pavilion

On Friday, March 23rd, CMS hosted the 2nd Annual Health and Wellness Fair at Roberts Pavilion. This year's event once again featured the very popular Body Composition Testing from last year, as well as a Blood Drive sponsored by LifeStream. This year's event was once a gain a success partly due to the amazing turnout from our CMS Community to support the Blood Drive.
