Athenas Edge Bombers in Close Wells Classic Battle

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas defeated the Ithaca College Bombers 74-68 in a close contest on Saturday evening. The Bombers held as much as a seven-point lead in the second quarter, but the Athenas came back to tie the game at the half. With 3:44 remaining in the third quarter the Athenas took a 47-46 lead on a Maya Love (CMC) free throw. While the lead never grew above six points, the Athenas would hold a lead for the remaining 13:44 of the contest. Ithaca closed the gap to one point on two occasions in the fourth quarter, but the Athenas stayed in the driver’s seat en route to the six-point victory.

Loggers' Pressure Too Much for Stags in Wells Classic Finale

The University of Puget Sound Loggers levered high-pressure and a deep bench to top the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team on Saturday night by an 87-74 final. The Loggers brought full-court pressure from the opening whistle and subbed in five new players seemingly every minute to sustain the pressure throughout the game.

Athenas Pull Away From Spartans with Strong Second-Half

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas used a strong second-half to separate themselves from the Case Western Reserve University Spartans in a 78-58 victory on Friday evening. Kailee Severt (CMC) scored 22 points to lead the Athenas offensively. Maya Love (CMC) registered her third double-double of the season with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Love also dished out four assists and swiped a pair of steals.

Bruins Light it Up from Downtown, Top Stags in Wells Classic

The George Fox Bruins went 13-24 from beyond the three-point arc (54.2%) on Friday night to top the No. 15 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags by a 91-73 final score. The threes were flying early for the Bruins. George Fox connected on 10 of their 15 attempts in the first-half to build a 52-36 lead at the break. Kendrick Morris (CMC) led the Stags with 17 points in 22 minutes on the floor. The senior was second on the team with eight rebounds on the day. Jack Ely (CMC) grabbed a team-high nine boards while also dishing out a team-high five rebounds.
