Basketball (Athenas)
The Athenas (3-2) went 2-0 over the weekend in the David Wells Classic. Against Carleton (Minn.), CMS came away with a 65-37 win led by the 13 points, seven rebounds and four blocks from center Claire Donnelly (CMC ’17). Then on Nov. 26, Kailee Severt (CMC ’18) poured in 21 points to power the Athenas past UC Santa Cruz in a 76-51 victory. This week, the Athenas have a pair of home games. On Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m., the Athenas host Pomona-Pitzer. Then on Saturday, Dec. 3, the Athenas take on Westmont at 5 p.m.
Basketball (Stags)
The Stags moved to 4-0 on the season behind a two-win weekend in the David Wells Classic. An 83-79 comeback victory over Cal Maritime started off the Wells Classic for CMS. Four Stags were in double-figure scoring against Cal Maritime, led by 20 points from guard Scott Lynds (CMC ’17). Against Southwestern (Texas), CMS ran away with a 101-56 win. Evan Davis (CMC ’19) scored 22 points off the bench and had seven three-pointers. Five Stag players scored in double figures against Southwestern. CMS hosts San Diego Christian on Friday, Dec. 2 in the final tune-up before SCIAC play begins on Dec. 9.
