The cold weather on Monday night did not stop the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team from heating up as the Athenas (7-1, 5-0) won 20-1 over Linfield College (1-6, 0-2).

A handful of members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps track & field team competed on Saturday at the Aztec Invitational hosted by San Diego State University. The field was comprised of post-collegiate athletes and Division I powerhouse schools like USC, Air Force, Brigham Young, UNLV, Wisconsin, and San Diego State.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team could not catch a break against Brown University on Sunday night, finding the post more often than the net on shots that could have shifted the momentum of the game.

Sunday’s game against Williams College did not go in the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team’s favor as the Ephs (3-2, 0-0) managed to edge out the Stags (11-11, 5-4) with a 5-2 victory.

Stags nearly perfect in sweep of UCSC and ACU

The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team moved to 14-0 on the season with convincing 9-0 and 8-1 wins over UC Santa Cruz and Arizona Christian on Saturday at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. Freshman Nikolai Parodi (CMC) won four matches, including two straight set victories at the No. 1 singles position, to lead the Stags.

The freshmen took the spotlight in Saturday afternoon’s game against Occidental College as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team defeated the Tigers 16-11.

No. 5 Athenas topple No. 2 Williams 6-3

March 25, 2017

The No. 5 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis team came up with the second win this season against a higher ranked opponent in the 6-3 victory over No. 2 Williams College on Saturday afternoon. The Athenas (13-0) last beat Williams (6-3) on March 23, 2013 and since then, the Ephs have won two National Championships.

The bats of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team were hot on Saturday as the Athenas recorded their second sweep of the 2017 season, beating Cal Lutheran 6-1 and 6-0. The Athenas (10-12, 8-4) put up crooked numbers in five innings on the day while the defense did not allow an earned run for Cal Lu (7-13, 4-8).

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team (11-10, 5-4) lost two games out of three in its series against Occidental College (16-8, 9-3), dropping the road game on Friday before splitting the doubleheader at home on Saturday.

Cal Lu hands Athenas 8-6 loss

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team fought hard but was unable to come away with a win on Saturday morning against Cal Lutheran, losing 8-6. CMS (6-15, 0-3) was shut out by the Regals (11-9, 2-1) in the first quarter and that ended up being the difference in the contest.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team played two drastically different games on Friday afternoon at the University of Redlands for the SCIAC split. CMS (8-12, 6-4) won the first game 5-0 behind junior pitcher Anna Gurr (CMC) and then dropped the nightcap 6-1.

Singles sweep gives Stags 7-2 win over No. 5 Chicago

Another day and another comeback victory against a top five nationally ranked opponent. On Thursday evening, the No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis erased a 2-0 deficit to beat one of Division III’s deepest and most talented teams in a 7-2 win against No. 5 Chicago.

CMS bids farewell to Keri Sanchez

After 13 seasons at the helm of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s soccer team, Keri Sanchez has decided to move on to pursue a coaching opportunity at the University of Texas. During her tenure, the Athenas developed into a perennial contender for the SCIAC title and earned five berths to the NCAA Tournament. At Texas, Sanchez will assist her former teammate from the University of North Carolina, Angela Kelly.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s water polo team took a tough loss at Whittier College on Wednesday night as the Poets (9-12) won 12-5 over the Athenas (6-14).
