The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis team earned two 9-0 wins over Caltech and Christopher Newport over the weekend to improve to 8-0 this spring. The team played with two different lineups in the matches and still put together dominant performances.
Softball scores seven in split with La Verne

For the second SCIAC double header of the season, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team (4-4, 3-1) split with the University of La Verne (9-3, 5-1), 3-1 loss and then 7-6 win. The first game showcased the Athenas’ defense and ULV’s pitching while the second game saw each team have three hits for extra bases in the high scoring affair.
Athenas go 3-0, but Stags take loss to Sagehens at Multi-Dual

The SCIAC Multi-Dual was an electric affair, as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Track and Field team saw a handful of individuals set personal bests at Strehle Track on Saturday afternoon.

Friday’s game was thought to be a promising indicator for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Baseball team (7-6, 4-2) as the Stags mercy-ruled the University of La Verne (9-5, 7-2) in their first meeting 12-2 before dropping both Saturday’s contest 5-3 and 10-0.

Saturday afternoon proved to be a major test for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team (4-0) as they had to hold off a major four-goal rally from Chapman in the second half to come away with a 15-9 victory.
Doubles depth leads Stags to wins over Caltech and Concordia

No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team earned its first two doubles sweeps of the season as the Stags easily defeated Caltech and Concordia-Irvine by scores of 8-1 and 7-2 on Saturday at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. The Stags used six different doubles pairs in the dual matches just a day after three CMS doubles teams competed in the 128th Annual Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship in La Jolla, California.
Stags take early lead but ultimately fall to undefeated Whitman

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps matched up against the only team in collegiate men’s basketball with an undefeated record in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. The Stags (23-5) gave it all they had but ultimately fell 79-73 to Whitman (29-0) on Saturday night.
Rematch from 2016 goes to Trinity in NCAA Second Round

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team’s run in the NCAA Tournament came to an end in the Round of 32 with the 77-66 loss to Trinity (Tex.). Up against the team that CMS knocked out of the tournament last season, the Athenas knew it would be a fight to the end, and they did just that.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team needed to play great team basketball to advance in the NCAA Tournament, and they did. The Stags (23-4) beat Whitworth University (23-5) in the First Round 78-73 in a back and forth affair.

For the second consecutive year, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team has advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament after the 79-63 win over UT Dallas. The Athenas held their opponents to just 26 points in the second half to beat the Comets on their home court. Additionally, the win marks head coach Kristen Dowling’s 100th in her career.
