Women’s Rugby

The Foxes are competing in the NSCRO 7s National Championship in Pittsburgh April 29-30.

Men's Lacrosse

The Claremont Cougars concluded the 2017 season on Sunday, April 9 with a 20–4 victory over the Loyola Marymount University Lions. The game featured four goals and two assists by Kevin Lynch (CMC '17) and 4 goals by Logan Miller (CMC '19). At the conclusion of the game, Coach Pete Ginnegar awarded game balls to the four graduating seniors: Lynch, Kaegan Ingrasci (Pitzer '17), Jeffrey Allen (Pomona '17), and Sebastian Luna (CMC '17), in recognition of their four years of stellar achievements on the field. Luna, a defenseman, even notched the first goal of his career for the Cougars in the final score of the game. Overall, the Cougars tallied 8 wins and 5 losses in the 2017 season… their best showing in many years.

Men’s Rugby

Claremont men’s rugby won the PacWest Cup by defeating the University of Dallas (April 8) in the semifinals and Cal Maritime (April 9) in the finals. By virtue of winning the PacWest Cup, Claremont earned a spot in the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) Final Four in Glendale, Colo. on April 29-30.

Men’s Volleyball

The Claremont Kangaroos traveled to Kansas City, Mo. from April 13-15. Claremont entered the tournament as the fourth seed out of 48 Division 2 teams. The Roos beat Augustana, Central Connecticut State, Winona State, Sonoma State, and the University of Michigan Duluth to get into the top-16 playoffs. Claremont then defeated Colorado School of Mines, and the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse to reach the semifinals. Claremont lost to Messiah in an exciting semifinal match in three sets, and finished third in the nation (Division II) overall. Earl Schultz (Pitzer '18), Alex Bresler (Pomona '17), and Ian Thomas (Pomona '17) earned first team All-America, second team All-America, and honorable mention awards, respectively. Claremont graduates setter Alex Bresler, opposite Mitchell Finkell (Pomona '17), and middle Ian Thomas. For more updates, check out the Claremont Volleyball webpage.
